Legal analysis of the agreement on the prescription of medicines by nursing professionals

The regulatory evolution of Mexican nursing has been a gradual process of professionalization that responds to the needs of the healthcare system and the recognition of the scientific and technical competencies of nursing staff. Article 28 Bis of the General Health Law, by decree dated March 5, 2012, formally adds the power of nurse prescribing as a legitimate attribution of those who have a degree and professional license, under the regulation of the Ministry of Health. Thus, nurse prescribing ceased to be an implicit or delegated practice and became an act of professional practice, backed by law and subject to regulatory control.
