Abstract

Sanitary cleaners along with other cleaners are among the most commonly used chemicals in everyday life, although these products are useful for cleaning, many of them contain toxic components that affect human health in addition to ending up in soils and bodies of water, causing direct and indirect effects on natural ecosystems, such as affecting their reproduction, interfering in the respiration of aquatic organisms, degrading organic compounds, and promoting eutrophication of water, until they can suffocate them, leading some organisms to death. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the toxicity and impact of Pato Purific, a sanitary cleaner frequently used in Mexico, based on the study and analysis of its components and their effects. In addition to a comparative analysis with articles on the effects of cleaners, detergents, and other contaminants, The components of the various products of Pato Purific, the gel disinfectant, the sanitary basket, the antifungal cleaner, the tartar and dirt destroyer, the bath tank tablets, and the active gel discs were analyzed for toxicity evaluation, and its technical data sheets were used to determine its components, including anionic surfactants, non-ionic surfactants, 85% formic acid, ammonium quaternary, thickener, ethoxylated alcohols, sodium hydroxide, fragrance, and dyes; hazard identification, toxicological information, presenting rat LD50 toxicity; ecological information and chronic effects.
