Sociocultural Study of the Image: The “Carroza” of the Pasto Carnival
Abstract
The images testify the life in a territory and allow us to know systems of thought and organization. Thus, the objective consisted in analyzing the "carroza" of the Carnaval de negros y blancos de Pasto from three perspectives: pre-iconographic, iconographic and focused figure, and three exercises of image production: selection of the theme, inquiry on the desire of production and exercise of social order. A classification of images according to theme and analysis of the sample of "carrozas" was obtained. This allowed an approach to the worldview implicit in the images, associated with the thinking of the builder and the community.
