Johanna Broda has a doctorate in Ethnology from the University of Vienna. Between 1973 and 1979 she was a Researcher at CIESAS, and since 1980 she is a Researcher at the Institute of Historical Research of the UNAM; belongs to the National System of Researchers Level III. In 2008 he obtained the National University Award for Research in Social Sciences. She is the author and co-coordinator of numerous publications, including the books Political Economy and Ideology in Pre-Hispanic Mexico (1978); The mountain in the ritual landscape (2001); History and ceremonial life in Mesoamerican communities: agricultural rites (2004); Popular religiosity and indigenous worldviews in the history of Mexico (2009); Summon the Gods: Mesoamerican Offerings (2013, 2016, 2019).
