Sugarcane is a perennial grass that grows between the tropics (30° north and 30° south latitudes) in more than 100 countries. It is the most efficient herbaceous plant on Earth for storing solar energy as biomass, reaching field yields of up to 150 tons/ha. Various products are obtained from this versatile plant: crystal sugar, molasses, bagasse, cachasse, ethanol, stillage(vinasse), biogas rich in methane, and polyphenols, among others. For this reason, its diversification is essential to improve the quality of life of field workers, workers in sugar and sugar-alcohol mills, and the entire associated productive chain, and this beneficial cascade can help to have a society with more significant social and economic equity and justice, as well as above all, recognizing the value of working in the production of sugarcane products.
