Abstract

Non-transmissible diseases are a worldwide public health problem. These diseases are considered chronic-degenerative and are characterized by the generation of long-term disabling consequences. Some examples of the pathologies are cardiovascular disease, overweight, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia. The chronic-degenerative diseases are highly related to bad eating habits, as well as high levels of sedentary lifestyle, which are recognized as unhealthy lifestyles. It's important to promote health education processes to increase the amount of physical activity that children and adults perform daily. For the adult population, it is difficult to reduce sedentary behaviors or moments of inactivity since most jobs keep their employees in the same positions for prolonged periods of time, which increases the risk of injuries in the musculoskeletal system. This can be minimized if it encourages an initially moderate or low-impact physical activity program that gradually progresses to higher intensity. However, there is evidence that increasing physical activity levels improve morbidity and mortality rates from these diseases.
