Approximations and distances between José García and Teodoro Méndez Acúbal

Abstract

This article proposes an approach to two main characters: José García from The Empty Book, by Josefina Vicens and Teodoro Méndez Acúbal from the story "The Luck of Teodoro Méndez Acúbal", included in Ciudad Real by Rosario Casteñanos. The intention is to offer coincidences and differences between the two, because as they are contemporary works, they share stages, social and historical situations in Mexico in the 1950s and are references to explain conflicts of the time. The equidistant is the emptiness of the mass man in the capital and the frustration of his creative incapacity and the marginalization and abuse of the indigenous in San Cristóbal, Chiapas.
