The phenomenon of migration in Mexico: a challenge for the health sector
Abstract
Globally, the migration phenomenon has been on the rise and is recognized as a complex and evolving social challenge, on which political, economic and sociocultural determinants operate, whose objective is to improve people's living conditions (International Organization for Migrants [IOM], 2019a). A migrant is a person who moves from his or her usual place of residence, either within or outside his or her country or across borders, temporarily or permanently for various reasons (IOM, 2019b). Migration can be of an irregular nature, which is characterized by the lack of valid documentation to enter the destination country, which generates greater vulnerability.
