Nursing Care Process in Patient with Grade III Liver Injury

Abstract
Introduction: Liver injuries caused by stab wounds are considered complex and are classified as grade III and IV.
Objective. To develop an individualized nursing care process for a patient with grade III liver injury, complicated by gastric perforation and hemoperitoneum caused by a firearm, at a public trauma hospital in Tabasco.
Methodology. A clinical case of a patient was elaborated, in which an exhaustive evaluation was carried out using the eleven functional health patterns proposed by Marjory Gordon. Likewise, taxonomies of diagnoses (NANDA), nursing outcomes (NOC) and nursing interventions (NIC) were applied to complete this evaluation process. In this way, three nursing diagnoses were established according to the needs of the patient, the care needs were based and prioritized using the NANDA taxonomy, the NOC results and the NIC interventions to create care plans based on scientific evidence.
Results. The care plans that were implemented were respiratory monitoring, fluids, and bowel management.
Conclusion. Nursing care was based on the use of Nursing Results Classifications (NOC) and Nursing Interventions (NIC), which allowed providing care in a structured and organized manner and achieving positive results in critical patient care.
