UTENSILIOS DE MAQUILLAJE: ¿UN RESERVORIO INVISIBLE DE BACTERIAS?

El uso cotidiano de utensilios de maquillaje como brochas y esponjas representa una práctica extendida a nivel global; sin embargo, su higiene suele ser subestimada. Estos objetos, al entrar en contacto directo con la piel, pueden convertirse en reservorios de microorganismos si no se limpian ni almacenan adecuadamente. En este estudio se analizaron 60 utensilios de maquillaje (30 brochas y 30 esponjas) pertenecientes a mujeres del estado de Puebla, México. Se observó que el 40 % presentaba crecimiento bacteriano, siendo las esponjas las más contaminadas. Se identificaron bacterias propias de la microbiota cutánea, así como microorganismos oportunistas asociados a ambientes húmedos. Los resultados destacan la importancia de prácticas básicas de higiene para prevenir posibles afecciones cutáneas y subrayan la necesidad de generar conciencia sobre los riesgos microbiológicos en objetos de uso cotidiano.
