Abstract
Nanocellulose is a polymer with a size less than 100 nm. According to its dimensions and its origin, it presents different characteristics that can be used for its use in the biomedical area. Several studies have shown that it is a relatively low-cost material with high availability and renewability, high biocompatibility, absorption, water retention, optical transparency, low immunogenicity, low toxicity, and chemo-mechanical characteristics. This research focuses on the current biomedical applications of nanocellulose as a material for advanced bandages in wound healing and skin tissue engineering, as well as the future prospects of this nanomaterial.
