The effects of green revolution have wreaked havoc on earth's ecological balance. The excessive use of pesticides to prevent loss of millions of acres of crops has resulted in certain problems in the long run, such as resistance to these substances by organisms considered as pests and bioaccumulation in the environment and human health. Although pests are a threat, so are substances commonly used to fight against them. The alternative use of biopesticides, which refer to all substances of natural origin derived from microorganisms, plants, and animals used to fight pests, has advantages over chemical pesticides because of its high specificity on target pests, absence of risks for workers and the environment, and biocontrol as an alternative to suppress populations of insect pests.
