Abstract

This article explores next-generation advanced solar cells, with a prominent focus on tandem technologies. It presents research ranging from basic concepts to current developments and the potential materials used in these innovative solar cells. Tandem technologies stand out for their ability to enhance efficiency in solar energy conversion by using multiple materials, with different sub-cells contributing to overall functionality. Their advantages, such as high efficiency and design focused on increased absorption and solar efficiency, are highlighted. Despite advancements, challenges associated with their complexity and costs are mentioned. Ultimately, the article concludes by emphasizing the importance of addressing these challenges to achieve widespread adoption of tandem cells, underscoring their key role in transitioning towards more sustainable energy sources.
