Abstract

Insulin resistance, insulin deficiency, or both are characteristics of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The metabolism of people who have this illness is altered, and complications may arise if it is not managed. In addition to the fact that a link between specific genes and the propensity for the development of diabetes has been shown, the etiology, or origin, of the illness is related to the pancreas' failure to regulate blood glucose levels. There are currently treatments that enhance quality of life, with insulin injections being one of the most popular in Mexico. Other options include changing the patients' diets and ingesting certain phytochemicals with medicinal benefits. Pancreatic beta cell replacement, SGLT2 cotransporter inhibitors, stem cells, gene therapy, and other novel treatments are presented. Similar to that, computational knowledge for diabetes prediction is described.
